BBC Food & Farming Awards

The Black Pig is the winner of the 2022 BBC Radio 4 Food Programme's prestigious Food and Farming 'Food Producer' award.

The BBC Food & Farming Awards were launched in 2000, to mark the 20th anniversary of Radio 4’s The Food Programme.

This national award was judged by chef Angela Hartnett and presenter Sheila Dillon who were both impressed by Lizzy's forward-thinking, as well as her creative and sustainable approach to the meat trade.

Angela Hartnett and Sheila Dillon - BBC Food & Farming Awards 2021 - "An independent butcher's unlike any Angela and I have ever come across - The Black Pig showcases a closed system of an independent abattoir and small scale producers to provide high quality meat at competetive prices. It's a very powerful model for a new kind of food system".
